Wipes and Febreeze

Miss Piggy (my 2 year old daughter) has gotten into the habit of not wanting to go to bed. Because she and Mr. Turtle (my 1 year old son) no longer share a room, I turn on her lamp and set my laptop up on her dresser so she can watch Dora on netflix before she falls asleep; I know, spoiled. But whatever, it gives her some educational entertainment as Jeopardy! is still a little over her head. When I tuck her in, I tell her goodnight, sweet dreams, I love you, and that I'll come and check on her in a little bit. When I get to this last part, she begins making excuses about being sick or something rather so I won't leave the room. She knows my departure is inevitable, but tries to delay it as much as possible. First, she requests 15 (ok, I may be exaggerating a little) bedtime stories, then it's a nighttime song, and finally, when all else fails, she asks me to pray for her. How can I resist that? It'll help my soul and hers; it's a win-win situation. So we run through the bedtime prayers routine and I leave the room. Five minutes later, she's asleep. She's adorable. Mr. Turtle is a different story. He goes to bed, no light, no noise, no entertainment, only with a bottle or binky and he's fine--after an occasional 15 second crying session. He decided to make last night special. After letting him cry for a minute or two, I went in his room and put the binky in his mouth. He only had the binky for a second before spitting it out and about a tablespoon of the milk he recently drank. Although it was a small amount, I knew it would smell and had to be cleaned up. So I took him out of his crib, sat him on the floor and took out the teddy bear and blanket that were slightly affected by his spit up. He was crying because I put him down and stopped once I picked him up a few seconds later. I handed him the binky which he put in his mouth for a grand total of approximately 5 seconds before barfing everywhere. And it seriously seemed like everywhere. The side of his crib, under his crib, the crib sheet, all the blankets, the two remaining teddy bears, his jammies, my sweater, shirt, skirt, feet, not to mention the generous puddle of puke on the floor all now bore the noxious smell of barf. It was nasty. And on top of that, Tony was gone so I didn't have any extra hands to help me. Miss Piggy did get up to see what the commotion was and being the dear she is, and brought me a pack of wipes. After cleaning up the disaster, masking the smell with a stronger odor of febreeze, and redressing Turtle, he went right to sleep, as did Miss Piggy. And this is my life. What did I learn? Even if Turtle screams for more food/milk, don't give it to him if he's getting ready to go to bed, and always keep a pack of wipes in his room. And thank goodness for my little Miss Piggy! She's Mommy's Little Helper!

Goals

Everyday, I wake up with a set of goals. First goal is sitting up and turning off the alarm, instead of just hitting the snooze button over and over.  Second Goal: Shower, dress, brush my teeth, get the diaper bag ready with extra outfits for each kid, diapers, pull-ups, bottles, sippy cup, lunches, snacks, and a toy of some sort. The second goal is supposed to be completed before the kids wake up. This is a goal that NEVER is acchieved. But, life would probably get boring if it were completely ideal. Right? Sophie is always up and about before Sam. Mainly because Sam is still in a crib and thus restrained from running about until Mommy removes him from his little jail. Best part of the morning is when Sophie interrupts my second goal and converses with me about how well she slept and what she dreamed about. It's always the same. She always has had a "nice sleep" and dreams about "kitty cats, doggies, and bunny rabbits." She is the best little companion in the world. Second favorite part of my morning is when I walk in Sam's room and he's jumping in his crib waiting for me to remove him from his compound with the BIGGEST smile on his face. Sophie keeps me entertained and Sam keeps me sane. My kids are great. Third Goal: Get the kids out the door without forgetting anything, dropped off at their Nana's house, and arrive at work early. That also rarely happens. I usually arrive right on time. Better than late.
Then it's work all day and home I go! Off to see the husband and kids. Second awesome part of the day: Seeing their three faces. Anyway, life's hectic, crazy, frustrating, and 100% amazing! That's a little about me on a Monday-Friday basis. This blog will probably be mostly comprised of things I know, naturally, including movies (mostly oldies) and my kids. Thanks for taking the time to read this. More to come.
